The Interview trailer with James Franco and Seth Rogen

To make someone laugh is not easy. To be a comedian is not easy. Even if Seth Rogen makes it look otherwise. A Seth Rogen comedy film has hardly ever disappointed; it has been reliable with its eccentric jokes and brazen attitude. That is why most of them have worked. Including Neighbors, the one that released just a few weeks back to critical and commercial success. So the next Seth Rogen film is something that is being eagerly looked forward to. Which is just a few months away. Titled The Interview, Seth Rogen is teaming up with James Franco for his next big screen appearance.

What’s the plot about: Like any Seth Rogen comedy film, The Interview too has a strange storyline, though still not too disconnected from reality. The Interview is about talk-show host Dave Skylark, played by James Franco, and his producer, Aaron Rapoport, played by Seth Rogen, who score an interview with Kim Jong-Un, dictator of North Korea. But when the CIA asks them to kill Kim, things are bound to go awry.

Who’s directing the film: Seth Rogen is co-directing the film with Evan Goldberg. The duo had previously directed another comedy film, viz. 2013’s This Is The End. So they are quite familiar with the genre, in case you had your doubts. The Rogen-Goldberg partnership is an old one; the duo have been involved as writers for Superbad, Pineapple Express, The Green Hornet and The Watch, before This Is The End. They have also co-written The Interview along with Dan Sterling.

What about the Rogen-Franco partnership: It is going to be the highlight of the film, a good enough reason to make a dash for the movie. This partnership had blossomed in the 2008 comedy film Pineapple Express (another Rogen-Goldberg written film). Both the actors have grown in stature and screen presence over the last six years, which will surely benefit The Interview. Franco has also appeared in a few other Rogen movies, such as Knocked Up (uncredited role), The Green Hornet (did not share the screen with Rogen) and This Is The End.

Where to watch the trailer: Right here! Enjoy the uncharacteristic music score (for the trailer of a comedy film) in the background, the “silliness” of the movie’s characters, and the goofy dialogues.

The Interview releases in the USA on October 10, 2014.
