Movie-inspired Halloween costumes of the year

Halloween is fast approaching, and apart from a horror flick around that time to give you the Halloween goosebumps, Hollywood also lends a lot of costumes on this “trick or treat” day. The movie ticket website Fandango has recently polled over a thousand movie fans to choose the hottest movie-themed costumes for the upcoming Halloween. While the results have been arrived on the basis of quite a small group of people and so cannot necessarily be extrapolated, it still offers you ideas on what to wear on the special “spooky” day.

1. Maleficent (Angelina Jolie in Maleficent)

The movie was a smashing hit for Disney, Angelina Jolie was a hit amongst the fans, and now it seems the costume is a big hit too. It definitely makes for one of the best Halloween costumes with that horned head… though do add your own sinister smile!

2. Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1)

The movie is yet to release, though it is a foregone conclusion that it would be a big box-office success. Katniss’ costume would be a hit on Halloween too surprises me, for there isn’t much of a sinister feel to it. However, imagine yourself in the Hunger Games, and maybe things will not feel that rosy after all.

3. Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence in X-Men: Days of Future Past)

Jennifer Lawrence remains a fan favourite as she features in the list for the second time. This costume though is sensationally hot! A lot of effort would be needed to get this right, and expect it to attract a lot of eyeballs.

4. Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson in Captain America: The Winter Soldier)

Scarlett Johansson, hot. Black Widow, hot. Costume, hot. Maybe, just maybe, this costume suits more for a Comic Con night than Halloween, but I doubt anyone will complain if you can pull it off the way Johansson can.

5. Gamora (Zoe Saldana in Guardians of the Galaxy)

This costume will not be complete if you cannot get the green colored body paint to go along with it. That would stand out distinctly on Halloween night!

1. Groot (Voice of Vin Diesel in Guardians of the Galaxy)

I would be scared to death if I encounter a talking tree. This costume would be a blast to wear, and do keep your head and body as much covered as possible to do justice to the character. The best part is that you have just one line to say throughout the night…. I am Groot!

2. Captain America (Chris Evans in Captain America: The Winter Soldier)

If you are a skinny fellow, then don’t try this costume for you will just ruin the image of Captain America for many. Chris Evans has made the whole personality of Captain America his own, and so if you want to wear his red and blue dress and carry his decorated shield, then get the style and attitude right.

3. Ninja Turtle (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles)

You can have your pick from the four turtles that turned out to be mutated reptiles in the latest movie version. You can be goofy, serious, carry a snarl, or be geeky, your choice. Just be sure to “boo” someone by jumping out from the sewers!

4. Star-Lord (Chris Pratt in Guardians of the Galaxy)

This one would be a real fun costume to wear and carry. Add the headphones, the right music (preferably “Hooked on a Feeling”), a bit of swagger, and you are good to go.

5. Dracula/Vlad the Impaler (Luke Evans in Dracula Untold)

A bit cliched, though what is Halloween without someone donning Dracula’s dress! Get a cloak that runs down your back in Batman-like fashion, and add a sword to the costume. Can include the fangs for more dramatic effect.

So choose wisely…
