The Hunger Games series needs little introduction. Based on the popular Suzanne Collins’ novels, the first two movies of the series have earned a bit more than $1.5 billion in worldwide box-office collections. So no wonder that the third and final book of the series has been split into two movies (nothing new in this as Harry Potter and Twilight movies series have led the way), with Part 1 and Part 2 releasing in 2014 and 2015, respectively. Promos for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 have already been begun rolling with mainly TV spots, and now we finally have its first longish trailer.
Here are some of the things that one needs to look out for in the trailer.
a) Katniss Everdeen aka Jennifer Lawrence is getting gloomier and gloomier with each movie, so don’t expect any pleasant smiles from here in the trailer.
b) This movie seems to convert things into a personal battle between Katniss and President Snow.
c) Time to get a bit sentimental when the images of the late Philip Seymour Hoffman pop up in the trailer (in the role of Plutarch).
d) Oh yes, there is a bit of Julianne Moore too in the trailer. She is playing the leader of the upcoming uprising.
e) Certainly Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth will have meatier roles than what comes across in the trailer.
f) The visual effects are going to be stunning once again.
Francis Lawrence continues to remain the director for the series. This movie will take Katniss beyond the battles in the arena of the past, and into something much larger and much more dangerous. Time for Katniss and her friends to save the day!
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 releases in the USA on November 21, 2014.
