Goosebumps trailer brings awesome monsters to life

A frequent visitor to a library would be well aware of the book series titled Goosebumps. The books under this series have names that can leave quite an impression – Welcome to Dead House or Let’s Get Invisible or The Werewolf of Fever Swamp. You would have read them when you were young; some like me wouldn’t mind reading them even when we are past our teens. After all, these are the kind of horror tales that I could comfortably read late in the night. They give the thrill, the chill, the goosebumps, without ever stop being fun. Goosebumps is a highly famous children’s book series written by the American author R.L. Stine that began hitting the stands in 1992, and is still being published in some form or the author. The books now have a movie too. This was a long time due.

What’s the plot: The movie’s plot is like a compilation of the Goosebumps series. We have a young teenager who moves to a new neighbourhood and meets a young girl there. But guess who is the girl’s father? The author R.L. Stine! The story is about to get you hooked now. The monsters of the Goosebumps series turn out to be real, and locked up in their books by the R.L. Stine of this movie to protect the readers. But the monsters are unleashed accidentally, and now the trio have to get them back to where they belong.

Who’s in the cast: The big draw to watch the movie is of course Jack Black. He is playing the author R.L. Stine, and should be wacky and crazy in his own way again. Youngster Odeya Rush will play his daughter while Dylan Minette is the guy moving next door. The movie also stars Amy Ryan.

Who’s directing the movie: Rob Letterman is the director of the film, someone well-versed in light-hearted family films, having directed Shark Tale, Monsters vs. Aliens and Gulliver’s Travels in the past. This movie would need a bit of a spooky punch (not a lot, but some), and hopefully Letterman has been upto the task.

Where to watch the trailer: Right here! The CGI is looking pretty good, the music is lovely, the adventure seems worthy of embarking upon. Get ready to meet the monsters of Goosebumps!
