When it comes to fast cars on the big screen, the first thing that will come to your mind is the Fast & Furious franchise. This series looked like heading to its end after the third movie, until it got a shot in the arm when most of the original crew members came back for the fourth movie and since then there has been no looking back. We are into the seventh movie of the franchise now titled Furious 7 (they keep messing around with the names!), and what is likely to be the biggest one yet.
What’s the plot: Oh well, if you do care about the movie plot then it has to do with the aftermath of the death of Owen Shaw (Luke Evans) in the previous film. Remember the post credits scene of that movie? The big bad brother Ian Shaw is now after Dominic Toretto and his crew for revenge.
What’s new with this one: There are two big additions for Furious 7. The first one is of course Jason Statham whose cameo in the post-credits scene of Fast & Furious 6 was something no one could stop talking about. What an adversary he would make to Vin Diesel’s character! Then there is the change in the director’s seat too with Justin Lin, who helmed the series from the third to the sixth movie, making way for James Wan who is on a fine run of successful movies of his own. If the trailer is anything to go by, the series is likely to continue in the same vein with lots of mad car stunts. Ahha, and there is Kurt Russell involved too, which adds more style to the film, if there wasn’t enough of it already.
Where’s the trailer: Right here! It is fast and it is furious just the way we want it to be. Little about Jason Statham has been revealed here, but we can keep him for the big screen viewing, can’t we? It could get a bit emotional too as a lot of footage of Paul Walker (who appears as committed as ever) comes up in the trailer. Hopefully, the movie will do justice to Paul Walker the actor and his character.
Furious 7 is scheduled to release in the USA on April 3, 2015.
