Here it is! The first trailer from 2016’s highly anticipated film Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has been released earlier than expected due to a leaked version already posted on the net. Leaking the trailers before the official launch seems like the in-thing now, though why would someone want to watch the trailer for the first time in poor quality as opposed to HD and ruin the moment, I do not understand at all. Never mind that. Warner Bros. and director Zack Snyder have officially launched the trailer now. It is dark, it is sinister, it is bloody awesome!
The trailer gives a gist of what the new movie will be about. Superman’s power is being seen as a threat by mankind, in just the way that anything too powerful in our world makes us wary. Batman is the superhero who is going to stand up to this powerful alien being. It’s a great idea to build this epic movie on. The way the camera zooms in towards the mammoth statute of Superman, with the voices of dissent building up, and the darkness of the night eating up all that comes in its path, only for the lights to suddenly reveal the blood red writings on the statue – “False God”, has to be one of the best opening moments of a trailer ever!
Ben Affleck as a brooding Bruce Wayne / Batman looks the part, despite all the hatred that had flooded the internet when his involvement in the movie had been announced. The trailer is too little to go with if we are to judge his performance, but the opening signs are good. And then there is that menacing chilling tone of Batman, used effectively before by Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale, which seems even more threatening this time. “Tell me, do you bleed?” (oh my!).. and then that promise, “You will.” Epic!
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has been written by David Goyer, directed by Zack Snyder, and apart from Henry Cavill as Superman and Ben Affleck as Batman, it also stars Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons as Alfred, and Jason Momoa as Aquaman. We are yet to catch the first glimpses of all these other characters, which the upcoming promos should reveal, but as far as the unveiling of the two main characters goes, it could not have been any better!
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is scheduled to release in the USA on March 25, 2016.
